The Problem
The Challenge
The Centre for Water Resources Development and Management (CWRDM) needed a way to give farming communities in Kerala dependable nutrient management advice. Recommendations had to account for many farm inputs and outputs, and be practical, affordable and environmentally responsible.
Our Approach
The Solution
Calpar Global developed CWRDM-ICNMS (Integrated Crop Nutrient Management Software), a web application built on Microsoft .NET and MS SQL with an Angular and HTML5 front end. It calculates the nutrient balance using inputs such as fertilisers, organic manures, atmospheric deposition and nitrogen fixation, and outputs such as crop produce, residues, leaching, volatilisation and erosion, and then generates crop-specific recommendations.
The Outcome
The Results
Farmers and agricultural officers can now get consistent nutrient recommendations for crops in Kerala, supporting cost-effective, eco-friendly nutrient management.
